Holistic development of all school going children through sports and nurturing the sports talent is the need of our time due to increasing sedentary lifestyles. Notably, previous studies have confirmed the relationship between physical activity and improved social-emotional indicators1 In addition to developing healthy life styles, acquiring social-emotional skills at a younger age can play an important role in improving their chances of social engagement and healthier mindsets, during youth and adulthood.
Jnana Prabodhini Kreedakul, Nigdi (JPK), a branch of Jnana Prabodhini, focusing on sports education, has been grooming children at the grassroots to become State and National winners, by integrating education and sports science, based on Ayurvedic principles, with sports, for the past 25 years. They now would like to extend their experience of scientific and systematic approach towards Sports participation, joyous engagement and talent development, to other interested institutes around Pune, who can set up grassroot centers in their neighboring villages (a Hub and spokes model).
Long Term Goal: To foster active children and youth with enhanced sporting skills who passionately pursue sports, creating pathways for talented individuals from grassroots to compete at State/National levels, while also empowering institutions and rural communities with the ownership, knowledge, and capacity to sustain sports development programs.
Purpose: To cultivate life skills in children through sports, facilitating the adoption of healthy lifestyles, nurturing athletes as role models, and concurrently strengthening the sporting ecosystem in rural India.
